Listening Sessions

Social Practice

Macon, Georgia
Ampersand Arts Guild
2016

This concept actively engaged attendees to play and listen to vinyl LPs in a living room atmosphere to create ‘safe space’ to discuss urgent social issues such as racism, displacement, inclusion, disenfranchisement, gentrification, gender equality, and other critical community matters. The model was to establish a neighborhood low-power FM radio station/studio for the East Macon public for music, discussions, storytelling, sharing histories and recipes, and broadcasting local communal events.
